In the famous resort of El Nido on the Philippine island of Palawan one of the most popular excursions that are picked by tourists is a 1-day boat trip.
The trips are available in every corner of the island and are divided into: A, B, C and D (each of them including 5 destinations to visit). You can combine any 2 of them in 1 day but you will manage to visit 8 destinations (instead of 10) during the whole day as the time doesn’t allow for visitting all of them. These tours include the following program:
We haggled the price: 1.500 pesos (30 EUR) per person for A&C Combination Tour. The tour lasted 8h from 9am till 5pm and included the meal: the guys on the boat prepared grilled fish, mussels, grilled pork and chicken. We were also given rice, soya sauce, eggplant salad, cucumbers, tomatoes, and for a dessert: pineapple and watermelon. We did this package tour with Alexzus. The snorkelling equipment was also included in the price. We paid additionally only for renting a canoe / kayak (although it was not so necessary) when heading for the so called Small Lagoon. You could skip that option and just swim to Small Lagoon on your own, and in some places even walk as the water level was not so high, but we have to admit that the kayaking was fun (the price: 300 pesos for a kayak for 2 people – 6 EUR).
But what made us absolutely astonished was the view of : Big Lagoon and Hidden Beach as well as snorkelling near Shimizu Island. During the whole excursion we had a chance to snorkel more or less 4 times and the experience was amazing. Note! Make sure you take swimming shoes with you as in some places it was really hard to get back to the boat. The sea was quite rough and many people got coral cuts on their feet, especially a group of Filipinos who couldn’t swim and were pulled back onto the boat by the guide with life jackets.
